Moment of the Week

When the month flies by

I am just stunned at how fast months fly by.  We have been busy though.

We rearranged the classroom/sewing room.  I wanted it to feel more like a 'family room' that we do school in, instead of just a classroom.  I bought inexpensive bookcases at Target, then we topped them with a nice piece of wood meant for closet shelves.  We added trim to the front of the bookcases where they meet so it looks much more like a built in.  Especially since we floated them so they could be lined up even though the wall there bumps out 4 inches.  They look custom.  They hold our books, which after many frustrating hours of staging I decided to sort by color.  I love it very much!

Along the blue wall we have two very simple desks.  One for the computer, and one for Nate to do school.   I like that it's not school specific, and if we ever end up putting him in school it will just be a great place for homework.  We need to repaint the wall, we tried touching up, but obviously it wasn't a perfect match, or maybe it was due to the filler putty.  Who knows.  I also want to get two matching chairs.

After this big redo we had a great burst of nice weather!  We enjoyed it immensely.

The guys have been busy with hockey.
Next month will be the last month, and I know Dave will miss it, but I do look forward to having Saturdays back.

So we've been just doing life.
School is going well.
I've been sewing.
Dave has been busy with work.
We got new snow.
Our zoo animals keep us busy and entertained.

It's crazy to know this kid has less than two weeks left of being 8.

Visiting Family

We made a trip to Michigan unexpectedly last week.

But it lead to lots of family time, especially with these cousins, which I never see.

And a bunch of other quick visits with family.

Started hockey again.

Added to our family.

And sadly, said good-bye to part of our family.

We don't have lots planned for 2017 yet.  Just a trip in March for spring break, possibly Nate will be on traveling hockey next fall.  We are just going to take life as it comes!

But we are having pork and sauerkraut today for good luck!
Best wishes for a happy new year!
