Went to the MOVIES

SO, since Dave has been going to Engine Run School he has been home in the evenings.   This is something I  have really been enjoying. We get to eat dinner together which is something I usually do alone.  It stinks because I can remember how nice it was in Arizona when he worked day shift.  We would eat dinner together then take the dog for a walk after supper.  It was a really great.  Since he has been home in the evenings we have been going to the movies.  We were just lucky that this week they have been showing movies that we have really wanted to see. Here is a list of what we saw and what we thought of them.

Monday we watched  Poseidon-Image I hated this movie.  I probably shouldn't have watched it since I have a horrible fear of drowning.  While watching this movie I was on the verge of a panic attack.  I couldn't catch my breath, my mind was racing, I felt like the walls were closing in on me.  I actually had to leave the theater for a while to keep from hyperventilating .   Dave thought it was unrealistic.

Wednesday we watched Lucky Number Slevin-ImageThis was a really good movie.  Dave really liked it and thinks he liked it even more because he had no idea what the movie was going to be about.  He had never heard of it.  I just told him that Bruce Willis was in it and he was game.  LOL.  I thought it was really good as well.  It is one of those movies that you end up cheering for the 'bad' guys.

Thursday we watched The DaVinci Code - ImageI really didn't know much about The Da Vinci Code.  I knew there was a lot of buzz about it.  I know a lot of people read the book.  I know it had something to do with something that got people talking about religion.  I have to say that when everybody and their brother were reading the book and talking about it I thought geez, maybe I should read it too.  But I have heard that some people had a hard time reading it and were confused.  I think I am glad I didn't read it.  The movie was confusing enough I don't know if I am smart enough to have read the book.  I don't know what I think about it other than that.

Friday we watched X-Men The Last Stand-ImageThis movie was GREAT.  We both really liked it.  You know how they always leave a little opening for another sequel, well this time I got really excited.  I asked Dave 'geez how many X-men movies are they gonna make?'  he said 'I hope they make 80!'  haha.  I think I would probably be game for another few of the Xmen movies.

If you have seen any of these movies let us know what you thought.  Leave us a comment.

Went to the Beach Today! & Omelet Bake

I just got back from the base beach.  It is a nice day.  FINALLY!  Yesterday I went to the BX and bought a beach chair.  I thought since I'll be here all summer long I should start going to the beach to read.  SO I went today.  Dave came with me but only stayed for an hour, he went golfing with a guy from his work.  I spent two hours reading.  Melissa and I are currently reading a book called, Dying for Chocolate.  I got a lot of reading done and it felt so good being out of the house and outside in nice weather.  I also took my new O magazine and started reading that.   I could have stayed all day but I didn't want Wendy to be in the kennel for that long.  I thought I would post this picture of Dave trying out my new chair.

Oh!!  Last night I made breakfast for dinner.  I tried this recipe I have for a Ham and Cheese Omelet Bake.  Boy was it good!!! Here is the recipe.  Definitely try it.  It called for grands flaky biscuits but  since they are round there were little gaps and the egg got underneath.  I think next time I will try it using the sheets of the crescent rolls instead.   You'll see what I mean if you try it.

Ham 'n Cheese Omelet Bake

1 box( 10 oz) Green Giant frozen broccoli & cheese flavored sauce

1 can pillsbury grands flaky layers refrigerated original biscuits 8 ct

10 eggs

1 1/2 cup milk

1 teas dry ground mustard

salt and pepper

2 cups diced cooked ham

1/3 cup chopped onion

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded Swiss cheese

1 jar (4.5oz) green giant sliced mushrooms, drained

1) Heat oven to 350. Cut slit in the broccoli packet and heat in microwave on high for 3 to 4 minutes( follow the directions on the box).  set aside to cool a bit.

2) Meanwhile, spray bottom only of a 13x9 in pan. Separate the biscuits.  slice the biscuits in half making 16 round biscuits.  Lay them in the pan evenly and try to spread them to fill in the holes.

3) In a large bowl, beat the eggs, milk, mustard and salt and pepper until well blended. Stir in ham, onion, cheeses, mushrooms, and broc and cheese packet.  Pour the mixture over the biscuits spread around making sure all the biscuits are covered.

4) Bake at 350 for 40 to 50 minutes or until edges are golden brown and center is set.  Let stand 10 minutes before serving.  Cut into squares.  ENJOY!!!!

We had this reheated for breakfast this morning it is just as good as it was last night.  Yummy!!

Dave is BACK!

Dave arrived in Misawa on Sunday night.  It is so great to have him back.  It feels like he was gone forever.  I am such a wimp.  I need to buck up because he may be going away again in a few weeks!!!

He had a good time,  he didn't realize he missed the states so much.  He ate at Buffalo Wild Wings several times  (I think he said five times!!) I am glad he had a good time.  Hopefully next months trip wont be as crappy(for me).  It wasn't fun  for me since the weather has been so terrible.  It rainy and cold which kept me cooped up in the house.

He started Engine Run School on Monday.  It is nice having him here for dinner.  He even gets a lunch and is able to come home to eat with me.  I feel spoiled and I am sure I am going to get a rude awaking next week when he goes back to work in his squadron.  Actually he has to work this Saturday!  Poopie!!!!

It has been awhile

It has been a while since my last entry.  Not much has been happening here.  Dave has been in Texas since June 3rd.  He will return this Sunday.  He had to go to seven level school with little notice.  It was quite an ordeal. Becky drove to Texas with Marc and Ella to visit with him this past weekend.  I am guessing that Dave probably had a great time.

I have  hardly done a thing since he has been gone.  No need to cook.  I have done a little bit of scrapbooking.  My book is at 76 pages so far.  At what point is it excessive?  I might need to have volumes, maybe childhood in one book and teenage years in another. I hope to get it done this week.  I bet I can do it.  Not a lot left to do.

I started a new book this weekend.  One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus.  Man, is it GOOD!!!  I have been trying to pace myself but I can hardly put it down.  I don't want to be bored the rest of the week!!   I would highly recommend this book.  Yippie I love the feeling I have when I know there is a really good book on my nightstand waiting for me.  LOLOLOLOL

Well,  not much else to say.
