Entry for January 13, 2007

Its only Saturday.
I went to the movies today. I went to see Charlotte's Web. It was great. I thought it was really funny for a kids movie. Getting out of the house this afternoon was the highlight of week. I think Law and Order's new season starts tonight so that will add even more excitement to my life.
I read the first Little house book this week.... Little House in the Big Woods. I have never read the books before. They are really cute. Melissa decided to read them also since she read them back in like 3rd grade or something like that. I started Little House on the Prairie the other night. The library on base has all of the books so I don't have to buy them!!
Well, its dinner time and I am hungry. I didn't eat lunch today. We had a pretty big earthquake and I was standing during it and it made me queasy. Felt seasick like.
Have a great weekend all of you out there. Ta ta.

New Years!!!

I cannot believe there are only 11 hours left in 2006!! The Year has flown by. We aren't doing much of anything today. We rented the Godfather Movies and are going to watch them. Since we don't have a Dick Clark countdown it wont be a big tada at midnight. But I am making a nice dinner. Cheesy Chili Chicken Breasts, and I made Maraschino Party cake for dessert!! We have a bottle of champagne and are looking forward to ringing in the New Year.
Tomorrow is more of the same. Nice meal but other wise low key. We are going to take the tree down and start cleaning up some of the decorations. Dave has to pack Monday and Tuesday also. SO nothing too fun but I am making a fun meal. I am making this really great French Onion Soup and a small roast to go with it, and we will have party cake leftover. Dave is really excited about having homemade cake. I am too.
Well, Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe New Years. Love you all!

Tom Hanks

Dave and I were just talking a few days ago about how much we love Tom Hanks.  So many of our favorite movies have him in it.  We own a lot of his movies.  Then today I was flipping through the channels and saw that his E! story was on.   They interviewed Gary Sines and Leonardo  DeCraprio, both of them were talking about what a great guy Tom Hanks is.  I think that is why we like his movies so much cause no matter what part he plays I always see him as a nice guy.  I started thinking of how many movies he has made, and how many movies I probably didn't even know he was in.  SO today I looked up his list of movies and thought I would post them.  SO here are our favorites:

*The Terminal * The Ladykillers *  The DaVinci Code * Catch Me If You Can * Castaway *  The Green Mile *  Toy Story 1 and 2 *  You've Got Mail * Saving Private Ryan * That Thing You Do *  Apollo 13 * Forrest Gump * Band of Brothers * Philadelphia * Sleepless in Seattle * A League of Their Own * Turner & Hooch * The 'burbs *  Big * The Money Pit *  Splash

Went to the MOVIES

SO, since Dave has been going to Engine Run School he has been home in the evenings.   This is something I  have really been enjoying. We get to eat dinner together which is something I usually do alone.  It stinks because I can remember how nice it was in Arizona when he worked day shift.  We would eat dinner together then take the dog for a walk after supper.  It was a really great.  Since he has been home in the evenings we have been going to the movies.  We were just lucky that this week they have been showing movies that we have really wanted to see. Here is a list of what we saw and what we thought of them.

Monday we watched  Poseidon-Image I hated this movie.  I probably shouldn't have watched it since I have a horrible fear of drowning.  While watching this movie I was on the verge of a panic attack.  I couldn't catch my breath, my mind was racing, I felt like the walls were closing in on me.  I actually had to leave the theater for a while to keep from hyperventilating .   Dave thought it was unrealistic.

Wednesday we watched Lucky Number Slevin-ImageThis was a really good movie.  Dave really liked it and thinks he liked it even more because he had no idea what the movie was going to be about.  He had never heard of it.  I just told him that Bruce Willis was in it and he was game.  LOL.  I thought it was really good as well.  It is one of those movies that you end up cheering for the 'bad' guys.

Thursday we watched The DaVinci Code - ImageI really didn't know much about The Da Vinci Code.  I knew there was a lot of buzz about it.  I know a lot of people read the book.  I know it had something to do with something that got people talking about religion.  I have to say that when everybody and their brother were reading the book and talking about it I thought geez, maybe I should read it too.  But I have heard that some people had a hard time reading it and were confused.  I think I am glad I didn't read it.  The movie was confusing enough I don't know if I am smart enough to have read the book.  I don't know what I think about it other than that.

Friday we watched X-Men The Last Stand-ImageThis movie was GREAT.  We both really liked it.  You know how they always leave a little opening for another sequel, well this time I got really excited.  I asked Dave 'geez how many X-men movies are they gonna make?'  he said 'I hope they make 80!'  haha.  I think I would probably be game for another few of the Xmen movies.

If you have seen any of these movies let us know what you thought.  Leave us a comment.
