Grumpin' Pumpkin

Lately Nathan will not smile for photos.  What a turd.  He will be having a nice time, but if I tell him to smile he will grimace instead.
We went to the Pumpkin Festival yesterday.  We watched Charlie Brown Great Pumpkin at the old theater downtown, saw some giant gourds, rode the train, and watched some pumpkin catapulting.

After the festival I hosted Bunco night at my house.  It was Wild West theme.

It was fun like always and......
I won a little money honey!!

Sandbox Salutations Wk 10

Double Digits...
Finally in the double digits this week, it seems like we have been here forever already, and we have even longer to go.  This week we didn't have much happening, our days just kind of run together.  Someone compared it to the movie Ground Hogs Day.  Since not much is going on this week, I thought that it would be cool to show you all what we are doing over here.  Below is a link for a video of the B-1 at work, hope you enjoy

LUCY UPDATE:
She's Back, yay!!  However, the day I got her back I noticed she has a bounce in her step coming from the rear.  Well, I got out and checked the tires and noticed that we got new one's, sort of.  What they did was put on 4 tires with more tread but were really dry rotted.  They were so dry rotted that one had formed a bubble out of the sidewall, and I'm pretty sure the cause of the bounce in Lucy's step.  So I had to take her back in and get a better tire.  Then today I went to check the oil, and she was 3 quarts low, which I'm pretty sure is like half of whats suppose to be in there.  So, they had her for a month, and she comes back to me in worse shape then when i dropped her off.  Oh well, at least the A/C works in both cabs.  I'll just deal with putting oil in her every other day.

Give me a home where the buffalo roam

We hit up Mt. Rushmore this afternoon.  And we took Needles Highway home.  We saw 8 buffalo.  Incredible every time!  I never get used to them.

This one was itching his neck on this stump, and a bunch of people were standing around watching.

And here are those people RUNNING away when the buffalo started trotting away from the stump and through a stream

We laughed from the safety of the car, but I woulda ran too!!

Sandbox Salutations Wk 9

Well after my last post of my Birthday, the next day I went to work I found these boxes sitting there waiting for me.

Teresa Finished a quilt for me that I had actually started a little more than a year ago.  Teresa did most of the work (actually pretty close to all of it) and it turned out just great.  It is very nice to personalize my room here a little.  My roommate even commented on how nice it looked and asked who gave it to me.  When I told him that my wife made it, he seemed very interested in it.  I'm thinking of sending some money to Teresa to make him one.  I hear he likes the San Diego Padres.
I also had a package from Jim and Sue.  It had lots of goodies, Beef Jerky (an All time favorite)peanut butter crakers, a couple of magazines, some much needed Foot powder, and some news From the Tri-city Times. It's fun to look at the paper from back home and see whats new.  Thank you Jim and Sue.

The weather seems to be turning for the better finally, The nights are cooler, and the days are not as hot (still in the 100's though).  It's to the point where I can step outside for a few minutes and feel like I'm not in an oven.  I hear the next few months will be nice, even maybe get some storms.

Thank you to everyone again for the great Birthday presents and wishes.

Bye for now!

Little Tour of the Prairie

We hauled ourselves east on Monday to see where Laura Ingalls lived.  If you read the books than you are probably jealous, if you watched the show then you wouldn't understand.  The show wasn't right.  But if you read the books, you know why we drove 500 miles to go.
Here is where Ma, Pa, Carrie and Laura's baby boy rest.

This is the door that Laura ran through into the Souveyers house the first year they got to De Smet, the year everyone else left town and the Ingalls stayed in this house to watch the tools.

This is the replica of the school Laura taught in when she was 15.

This is where Laura and Carrie went to school.

This is the house that Pa built in town.  He died in this house.

This is a soddy that is on their old homestead.
 This is overlooking their homestead
 We took a wagon ride
And we learned and saw a lot.
This made me nearly pee myself.  I was walking across the homestead holding Nate's hand, talking away when I realized Nate and I were both stepping over this snake snakeskin.. To say I cursed and jumped would be accurate.  Then I ran to the potty.

Out west.

New Do

I lost a load of hair today.  Enough to donate, and enough to make my neck say thank you!

Do you like it honey??
