Our last beach day

We decided to spend our last day at the beach.  We rented chairs and an umbrella and settled in for the day.
The weather was perfect.

We went to Cheeseburger Waikiki for dinner.  Then walked around a little.

There was a big fireworks show as part of the Honolulu Festival, so we webt to the beach to enjoy it.

Then we had to pack.

We will miss vacation.
And the beach
And no cooking/cleaning/dishes.

Beach day

Today we spent the entire day at the beach.

This time Dave rented a kayak for an hour.  He and Nate saw sea turtles and had lots of fun paddling around.

We enjoyed the Mongolian Grill tonight for dinner, and time on the beach as the sun went down.

It was a great day.

A chill day

We had a nice relaxed day today.  Dave had to go return the rental car early this morning.   Then we went to IHOP for breakfast.

We walked to a fabric shop not far from the hotel.   On our way back we stopped at a souvenir shop since we found outhe the big Hilo Hattie's shop is closed.

We had lunch then spent the afternoon at the pool.
We had dinner at Bibos.  Then we went to the beach to enjoy the waves.
It was a nice day.

Just halfway

Today we realized we have reached the halfway point of our trip.
Time flies when you're having fun.
This morning we drove to Diamond Head to the lookout.

Then we headed to the Waikiki Aquarium.  They had really neat fish and coral... and some awesome jellyfish.

We drove around a little, then stopped at a quilt shop.
Afterwards we went back to the Hale Koa to the pool.

We walked to dinner at Cheeseburger in Waikiki...finishing our day with a little walk around the shopping area.

Today I was putting a few souviners in a bag and I mentioned to Nate we have added quite a few bookmakers to our collection.  He replied,"Just wait until Alaska!"  I guess he's got the travel bug.  Considering his homebody tendency I was surprised.

With the top down

Today was a different pace.

Dave went to get our rental car this morning, and after he returned we headed out.

First we stopped at the Dole Plantation.

We went through the huge maze then got some pineapple whip.

The plantation is fine, but I just love seeing the huge fiends of pineapples.

Afterwards we headed towards the North Shore.  We stopped to see sea turtles.  Then we went for a hike to the Waimea Falls.  The guys went swimming and we enjoyed the flowers of the botanical gardens.

But the best part of my day was finally seeing whales surface. I could see them spouting and surfacing right from our belcony.  It was amazing!

Today Nate declared next year when we come  (which we are not) we should stay for thirty days.  It made me happy that he is enjoying this trip so much.

Beach Day

Today our plans were simplified.
Spend the day at the beach....

Dave rented a paddle board.  Nate declared that he wanted nothing to do with it, but as soon as he saw his dad paddling nearby he went to get on.

We had tickets to the luau tonight.

David got picked for the fashion show and hula lessons.   I died laughing.
