Had a very interesting experience trying to get our stove looked at today. Makes me wonder....
At Luke we had no problem with our house the whole time we lived there!!
In Misawa we had a clogged sink once that was taken care of in lightening fast fashion, and I called to ask for a new washing machine lid since mine was rusting out really bad and paint flecks were going into my wash... and the Japanese fix-it men came in and told me they would bring me a brand new washer right away... they asked if there was anything else and I asked if they might have a replacement rack for my dishwasher since all the tips were also rusty and left marks on my dishes... they said oh no they would bring me a new one right away. Happy surprise eh?!
In Cannon the dishwasher didn't work at all. The first time we tried to use it nothin... so they replaced it right away! Great, but less than a year later a part on the sprayer broke right off! It took a while and they forgot to bring the part and fix it when it finally arrived, but eventually they fixed it. The fridge however froze all the food in the fridge part. Boy everything was ruined and it happened often... when I called to get it looked at the guy's first response was, "well slushy milk is the best!" seriously? That was his offering on how to fix the problem, when I told him that didn't work for us, he finally tried to reset the switch. But it didn't help it still didn't work right. No matter how many times they came to try to fix it, it never got fixed. It was frustrating, but luckily we got the heck out of there!!

Here at this base, our home had a broken window when we moved in that was promptly replaced. And they quickly came to replace a part in the attic that was broken and wasn't sending heat downstairs. Happy us! Yay they fix things here.... Well, then the dishwasher took a crap. Made clunks and bad bad noises, so finally one night we open it up and Dave tricks the little notch to think the door is closed and we watched as water gurgled from the sprayer. So we call, it takes two weeks for the fix-it guy to come, and he turns it on and it sprays. I tell him the problem and his response is, he has the same dishwasher and his works fine! Really? That's his mechanical assessment? His works so mine should too? What the hell? I was so annoyed I just said fuck it, I'll just wait until the new property managers take over, and maybe they will actually fix it....
Today I decided to call, mostly about my unsafe stove, but I also mentioned my dishwasher that doesnt clean. The fix-it dude arrived fast as lightening...I'm hopeful... his response to me telling him the stove blowing huge flames when I lite it, and or random burners blowing flames when I am lighting one of the other burners...."well they must be left on if it shoots out big flames" He told me I wasnt turning off the stove!!! Really? Stupid me? I think not!! I know how to turn of a damn stove. He lights them and notes that they dont lite very easily, oh really? He takes the burners apart, cleans them, replaces them, and they still do the same damn thing! And this burner has lost even more flame!! Seems he fixed it right up then? I mentioned that I have also been wondering if the oven doesn't quite heat up all the way, my standard recipes are taking much longer than they have the past 10 damn years I have been making them... He's gonna show me, he goes to get an oven thermometer and cranks it up to 350. Comes back a while later and check... well I'll be damned.... that oven is 15 degrees cooler than is should be!! Huh!
So he checks the dishwasher, which sprays the way he wants and tells me 1. I should switch soaps(he checks and sees my powdered Cascade and takes it back, he declares its the best soap out there..) 2. I shouldn't fill the soap tray up, its too much (I don't sir, known that for a long while) 3. I should try this additive that helps your soap preform better in hard water....now this is the part that I loved! I have heard my friend Bri preach about the additive he speaks of..I'll try it.. but then he tells me... He has had other fussy people find it helps alot! Oh really? Other fussy people like me eh? Fussy people who have their panties in a bunch expectin' the dishwarsher should warsh the dishes? Huh I need to stop this fussiness and stop complainin' when the pre-washed dishes come out dirtier than when they went in??(and I'm not talking about water spots, I'm talking crud!)
So the result of my call to maintenance is.. Same shitty stove, just draw on your eyebrows.... And shut your fussy mouth and warsh the dishes by hand already. LOL
I wish my husband was here. Really really really wish he was here right now.
