Aloha

these lily pads were crazy
We are back from our three week trip.  I have a gazillion photos of Hawaii, but I think I will just post a few spurts to show you a few of the highlights.

It feels nice to not be counting down to anything right now.  I hope I'll be blogging a bit more for those of you that enjoy the regular updates on what we have been doing over here.  I like to blog for my personal enjoyment.  I sometimes get caught up looking back at everything we have done.. and how quickly Nathan is growing up!

Downstairs

A large part of our downstairs is now painted and settled.  This is looking from the garage door towards the living room.
please excuse the dirty tile floor
 The front door
Looking towards the living room from the powder room
pardon the messiness on the left... its the sewing area... still needs help
Looking at the entryway table -the fan doesn't belong there, but I cleaned the carpets last night.
I love where my wall hanging quilt ended up.
From a corner of the living room looking towards the entryway... the white door is the garage door.
 Looking towards the kitchen :)
Looking in the living room from a few stairs up.
Looking from the kitchen to the front door and living room.

Our laundry room was painted last week.  The shelves were put up and I've been organizing things in there.  Its a decent size room, but its kinda long and narrow.  It works okay now that the shelves are up.  But it was tricky to photograph.
shelves that made me stop feeling crazed in the clutter that was the first three weeks of living here.

The green doesn't look totally perfect, I think its the right color, but it looks different in there since there is no natural light.
we need a new hot water heater.
I've hung up pretty things to make me happy.
looking back
The jelly cupboard held sheets in our previous house.  Before that it was table linens in New Mexico.  Here is is our craft cupboard.
makes me happy
It holds all of my kid craft supplies, plus my seasonal placemats, which is pretty much all that graces my table since Nathan started eating at the table.

This room works.  As always in about six months I'll probably shuffling a few things around to make it work better.  I do that every time we move.... it seems like we've been moving a lot lately.  Hopefully that's over for a while.

for the dogs

We decided to take the dogs to the park this morning.  Its not just a big fenced in area.... actually none of it is really fenced.... But the dogs are allowed to run around, and swim, and run.  It is just a lot of fun.
Humans love running around the wooded paths near the river too.

Water lovin dogs like Bonnie love splashing around, chasing sticks.  Bonnie took a float down those little rapids right there.... it was hilarious.  She didn't really think it was very fun.  Not fun enough to do it twice anyway.
But the river is really pretty.  I had to go fetch our sunken stick, and it was nice and cool!

Our 'ol Anna was running up and down and around the trails.  I really had no idea she could still move that fast. Nate loved running around just as much. What four year old boy doesn't love running though the woods?  There never has or will ever be one.  All 4 year old boys love being in the woods.
We stopped calling dogs and the boy long enough to snap a photo. There aren't many photos of us now that there is the boy to snap pics of

i hope she is full grown

Us grown ups likes walking through the woods too.
no fences.  but the dogs just run and come back. okay here are a few more pics, I'll stop talking.....

its blurry, but you can tell she is happy, and fast.

The races

Early last summer we enjoyed the races in Rapid Valley a couple of times before David left.  Now we live one minute from the race track.  We went last Friday night and it was way fun.  It was chilly.  Like we wore jeans and sweatshirts and were still a little chilly.  It was so nice to have a break from these 90s and triple digits.
Its always loud and fun.

We have been enjoying our summer.  Its even nicer now as we are settling in.  Dave is getting used to being home.  We are getting used to him being home.  I hope he stays home. For a long while.

lately

We feel like we live here lately.  Its nearly normal.
last friday's pizza night...its was storming out and nice to have a normal friday night together

Dave made the pizza of course

I cleaned the old townhouse.... the night I went and stayed late cleaning alone the sky looked incredible.  The only thing I will miss about that place
cleaning took 10 hours. (seriously four hours one night, and six hours the next day) there was a point I wanted to give up.
but once it was clean and we turned in the keys I was proud of myself for passing another inspection...I always 6 hours in promise myself I should keep my next house cleaner.... we will see

Our neighbor shares produce.  grown in his garden.  organic.  its awesome

Dave replaced the bathroom faucet and drain.  Thank goodness.  two more to go.

we enjoyed the weekend with breakfast and family time

Bonnie loves it here.  she is allowed to roam the house (in the townhouse she was only allowed upstairs) She has lots to watch, she can watch out the windows, Dave plays Frisbee with her every night, the doberman next door wants to romp around with her. (i would pay money to see this happen, I should ask the neighbors. They are nice too)

the boy has friends.  he comes home nightly with a bruise or a scratch from the trampoline.  but he loves riding bikes or playing knights with the boys on the street.  I'm so happy for him.

We are all just happy here.
